Gifts of Thanks

Merry Christmas!!
My last post this week before I take time away from the blog for the holiday. I didn't get the time to get the photos of our Christmas decor ready to share so I will still get that in next week. I wanted to show the rest of the teacher gifts that I made this year. I apologize for the crappy iPhone pictures, it was super late and I was being tired and lazy. But I am really happy with how they turned out!

The movie themed gift was for Oden's daycare lady.
The coffee gifts were for the teachers at Liam's Montessori school.
The soaps I made up for gifts to a few good friends and the ornament was for Oden's daycare lady as well. :)

Thank you Teacher

Hey Hey! Welcome Monday and actually happy to see you! After a busy and very productive weekend at the Palik home, I am thisclose (ha, see what I did there?) kidding aside, we are this close to being ready for the jolly man himself. We have fought illness this last week and a half and found out poor Odie bug has a ear infection.

I hope I am not the only one who has a hard time in general shopping for those on my list. I love to give, but the practical side of me always takes over and I want to get the perfect/much needed/used/wanted gift. And more often than not, it stalls me and provides frustration, grumpiness and stress.

So this year as Liam has been at Montessori school a little over a year, I wanted to recognize those ladies who give all they have to my little boy each and every day. He has three full time teachers and two part time so with 5 gifts to tackle I needed something simple and economical. This picture inspired me, along with this free printable I found on Pinterest. I have seen many of these on Pinterest and Instagram from other moms and friends, but couldn't walk away from this quick easy and adorable gift!

Starbucks gift ::: brown tissue paper for the drink part and white tissue paper for the whip cream ::: inside is Starbucks giftcard ::: note attached says... Thanks a "latte" for everything you do

So I bought my supplies and got started. I used a paper sack from Whole foods as the coffee look-a-like. And tissue for the whip cream. It got to late for me to get the labels printed so I will do that today and show you the final product hopefully by the end of the week? I also worked on Oden's daycare gift and will be sharing that one too.

Do you have a hard time deciding on teachers gifts like I do? What did you decide to do?
Please share your awesome idea's with me!
Happy Monday Friends!!

Friday 5

Another week flew by, it feels like the days and hours are flying by. Six days until Christmas, it will be here in a blink. I look forward to staying home this weekend, being cozy in my PJ's, Christmas movies with my Mr and wrapping gifts. I far more enjoy the wrapping part than the shopping, so this is the fun part for me!

-ONE-
Check 'er Off!!
I was off work yesterday and got all of my remaining Christmas shopping done yesterday! Oh yeah!! Even feeling ill all day long, I still managed to complete my to do list with the help of the Mr.
Love that feeling!! Now onto wrapping everything...

 -TWO-
Nutcracker Ballet
My tricky Mr sure pulled over a good one on me Saturday night. He had been telling me for a while now that we had a boring insurance presentation and dinner at a fancy hotel downtown to go to for his work. We lined up Grandma as our sitter and a few hours before we were going to leave, he surprised me with these, tickets to the Nutcracker and a quick dinner downtown instead!! We had a great time and I loved seeing the Nutcracker (which I had also danced in as a girl) as it has been a long time since I've seen it! Oh and it gave me a chance to wear my fancy fur coat and fur lined gloves that my grandmother gave me. EEK ;) And of course, I did not think to take ONE photo of the two of us.. Figures.

-THREE-
Candy Crack
I have bought these little minty delights three times now since December has rolled around and I have to say, they go so quick in our candy dish on the kitchen counter!! So delicious :)

-FOUR-
HexBug Aquabot 2.0
The Mr. insisted on adding this last minute gift to Liam's surprises. He found it browsing the toy isles of Target while I was shopping for our nephew yesterday. We got ours at Target but could not find the same one on the Target website so I included the link to Amazon. The review on Amazon were pretty great, which I insisted he checked before we took the plunge. Hope it's a hit!

Hexbug Aquabot 2.0

-FIVE-
Celebrate Me Home
One of my all time favorite Christmas songs. Sure gives me a big smile whenever I hear it come on the radio. Herd it a couple of times yesterday while out shopping, after the morning full of sports talk and some Colin Cowheard that is (obviously Craig's choice)-ha!
I never get tired of it and could listen to it over and over again :)

I am linking up with Christina, April, Natasha and Darci today for their Five on Friday things!!

Are you done with your shopping list and planning to enjoy a weekend at home getting things done? What Christmas song will be on your replay?

Have a wonderful weekend Friends!!

The Stockings Were Hung..

I bought Liam this PBK stocking two years ago, so this past October, I went ahead and also purchased one for Oden as well..

They quality is great, and even though they may want something more plain and classic when they are older, I couldn't help myself, as these are adorable.

I have cute stocking hangers similar to these below, but in our cozy home, we don't have a fireplace, so our stocking rest on a ledge that separates the living room from the dining room. Little hands can pull these down and we don't need any ER visits over here. So once the boys are older, these can come back out.

I'd also like to find something new for me and the Mr. but just couldn't make up my mind this year, so I am going to wait until I know exactly which ones I want to purchase. It's a big decision as I want them monogrammed and will likely be the last ones I ever get us. Just couldn't decide what color to get...Here are a few I looked at-

Channel Quilted Velvet

Red & White Velvet

Red & Green Velvet

Needlepoint Stockings

 Have a great day!

Christmas List for our Boys...

Hello Again!! Man... (sigh) that weekend was busy.. I need another weekend to recover from that weekend.. But, a couple of coffee's this morning and a teething baby who slept pretty good last night and onward with the busy week :)

As I shared Friday, I have maybe 40 % of my shopping done. Yeah....not so good. I am never the last minute gal. I am usually sitting back, sipping a coffee, gazing at my sparkly tree with my gifts neatly wrapped underneath by now.. But I'm not that gal this year either.
So, my mission this week, to get with it! I am considering taking off early one day to hit it hard and get done with that pesky shopping part, so I can drink cocoa, watch Christmas movies with the Mr. and have a giant wrapping session like years past.

Here are wish lists I put together a few weeks ago for the boys, and I have stuck to them pretty much. It can be so hard buying for the second kiddo, who is a baby. You don't want to not have them experience their first Christmas in a big way, but you already have plenty of toys and books, so that is a challenge. That is why I included things like larger fleece blankets, and a fuzzy crib sheet to Oden's list. Practical things. We also asked for gift certificates to the boys' swimming school, as they will both be starting lessons the beginning of January.

Did you have a hard time shopping for gifts for your second child? Or second child who is a baby? and the same gender as the first? (haha)

Happy Monday Friends!
